Alvin sterling silver flask in Art Deco style with an elegant, geometric design, from the early 20th century. Finely engraved, it measures 7'' by 4 7/8'' by 1'', weighs 8,5 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks and a monogram as shown.
Founded in 1886, just 11 years later, Alvin, maker of Official World Fair souvenir spoons for 1893-94 Chicago Columbian Exposition, was purchased by Joseph Fahys & Co, a watch-case manufacturer, operating as a branch until 1910. In 1919 the name changed to Alvin Silver Co until 1928 when assets, dies and patterns were purchased by prestigious maker Gorham.
