Walter and David Mulholland sterling silver centerpiece bowl in Chicago Arts & Crafts style, beautifully hand-hammered with a multi-lobed design. It measures 12 2/3'' in depth by 8'' in width by 2'' in height, weighs 19.6 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks and a dedicatory inscription on the base as shown.

Walter and David Mulholland were makers of handwrought silver in the Arts & Crafts style. Active in Park Ridge and Evanston, IL around the years 1911 to 1919, the brothers later bought a silver plate manufacturer in Aurora and stopped making handwrought sterling silver. Their work is mentioned in the book "Chicago Metalsmiths" by Sharon S. Darling (1977) as shown in the last photo. It states that "both were accomplished silversmiths: David Edward won honorable mention in the Art Institute's art and handicrafts exhibition in 1912; five years later both shared the Municipal Art League Prize." Their work is present in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
